On Wednesday, February 8th Spike Lee spoke at Chicago State University on behalf of Black History Month. A few members from the CTVN crew were lucky enough to attend this presentation. Spike Lee spoke about the importance of education and young people following their dreams. Throughout his career he has faced many challenges and warned the audience that there will be hard times but to overcome the challenge comes with a great payoff. Here is a reaction of the presentation by one of CTVN’s students Ashton Moss.
“Last night at the lecture, I was eager to hear what the living legend Spike Lee had to say during his appearance at Chicago State University. Once he started speaking I couldn’t believe it was actually him. I was totally in shock once the message was over because throughout the whole thing, Spike was saying things that my mom tells me all the time. It was surprising to hear it from the horse’s mouth. I was really happy I went, because it encouraged me in many ways. If Spike could do it, I can too as long as I stay focused and keep God first in my life.”
